    Description

    very nice unrestored 100% original Washington license plate. 1920 issue; number 14??88.  14 by 6 inches; black legend on yellow and white two-tone background.
    the plate lies almost completely straight and flat, with original porcelain as seen in the photos.  fresh out of the barn!    there is evidence of a repaint, and then further evidence that more porcelain was lost over the years.  this was a poor year for the lamination, apparently.  Washington only issued 1920 plates to new registrants, starting with porcelain plates and going to embossed later in the year.  (extant 1919 plates got a renewal tab.)
    porcelain plates are fragile, because the coating is literally glass fused to the steel.  to protect it from damage, the plate will be packed carefully for transport.
