    Description

    For Your Kind Consideration
United States Marine Corps - USMC - Vietnam War
Service Memorial Plaque Includes Spanish Flag - Emblem of the US Marine Corps - USMC.
This is a superbly rare piece. Plaque presented to Foreign Unit Operatives working with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) over the period of the end of 1967 through New Year of 1968.
Kept secret from the Spanish Population at the time and mostly unmentioned in Spanish historical records is the participation of some 40 to 50 Spanish Medics operating with the Allies during 1967 and 1968.
The Medics were to arrive in Vietnam in June of 1967 and to depart in March of 1968 at the end of the major Tet Offensive. Although mobile they were originally based at Go Cong in the Mekong Delta.
The Medic's, on departure were not replaced by further Spanish Military and thus ended Spain's short participation in the Vietnam War.
As non-combatants their involvement remains just a small piece of Vietnam War history.
Spain's involvement in the Vietnam War, albeit short was a stand against the Communist threat very prevalent in Europe at the time. The plaque represents the allied Nations partaking in the war at this time, Taiwan, Philippines, New Zealand, USA, Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), South Korea, Australia, Thailand and Spain.
These steel pieces were originally set on a wooden plaque. Measure 4.6 inches across (11.5 cms)
Incredibly rare piece, these are next to impossible to
locate. This piece in remarkable condition.
